1. What is stump grinding?

Stump grinding is the most efficient and cost-effective way to remove stumps with minimal or no damage to your property. We utilize equipment that not only grinds the visible portion of the stump above ground, but also what is not visible below ground level.

2. How do I measure a stump?

Let us come do it, it’s FREE. But, if you want to figure a rough estimate, you can measure the height of the stump from ground level and its maximum width where the stump meets the ground level. Please refer to our measuring instructions for assistance.

3. My stump is pretty small…. it can't be that hard can it?

Most stumps that are only visible above ground can be very deceiving in size. Often depending on the type of tree, the biggest part of the stump is found below grade level and not visible.

4. What will the area look like after the stump removal is completed?

After grinding is completed, there will be a covering of dirt and mulch left behind ready for you to use on your property. For an additional fee, we will take the time needed to rake the dirt and mulch back into the hole and smooth everything out or work with a local landscape company for complete removal and seeding.

5. How much MULCH will be generated form grinding?

The amount of is dependent on a few factors:

  • How large the stump is above ground.

  • How large the root system is below ground level needing removed.

  • What type of tree it was.

6. How deep do you grind the stump below ground level?

While the depth depends on your tree's size and type, we typically grind stumps 4-8 inches below ground. If you need us to go deeper to accommodate a specific use, we can.

7. Can’t I save money and rent a stump grinder myself?

There are several reasons hiring a professional makes since:

  • Stump grinder rental is not cheap, not counting your time and fuel.

  • Rental machines are for small stumps and have dull teeth not maintained.

  • If you don’t know what you are doing you could hurt yourself, neighbors and cause potential property damage

8. How big of a grinder will you use?

The grinder we use is powerful enough to handle large stumps, yet small enough to let us access enclosed areas with openings as narrow as 36 inches. Our machine is a self-propelled tracked machine generating very low ground pressure and equipped with the latest cutting wheel technology.

9. How long will it take to grind my stump?

It depends. The stump’s size matters the most but, a tricky or hard to reach location of the stump can add to the amount of time required. On average the time required to complete the job could range from under 1 hour and up to 4 hours.

10. Will there be any equipment damage to my property?

Our equipment is extremely maneuverable, lawn-friendly and can be used on manicured lawns, golf courses, and any other delicate location. We can grind within inches of sidewalks, driveways, fences, edging, or other structures. In most cases, once we have completed the removal, there is no visual indication that our equipment was ever on your property.
